Last Full Day at Yellowstone
Jul. 2nd, 2018 11:00 pmWe had no scheduled activities other than dinner at M66. Most of us (not R. and not T.) also had breakfast at M66. I had the vegan bowl; it was too much food, but tasty, and it turns out they _do_ have dairy free bread. I had the whole wheat. Well, some of it.
We drove to Old Faithful, stopping here and there to look at things. Mostly, A. and I stayed in the car while R. and T. went to look at things, because A. really hates the smells. We had lunch at the cafeteria at Old Faithful Lodge. A. had some fruit and carrots and crackers; I had the rice bowl. It was good; I'm going to try to reproduce this at home, having had it twice now on this trip.
We watched Old Faithful. Several of us stayed in the shade on the porch, which was nice. The rest went down to the boardwalk. Eruption was within the 10 minute plus or minus prediction.
We bought merch at the gift shop. We departed. My sister's family gave up at Prismatic Pool because the line to park was insane; they went back and browsed souvenir shops at Canyon Village. We did one of the auto roads (no buses, pools _right_ by the side of the road, low enough smell so A. got out and looked at some and I got pictures of her so if in the future she asks me why she doesn't remember seeing any pools at Yellowstone, I'll have proof).
We eventually worked our way back to Canyon Lodge (pictures at Gibbon Falls). We had dinner. After dinner, R. and T. drove up to Mammoth. I got mostly packed up for an early departure that isn't that early, especially by eastern time. We've had fun, but I'm ready to go.
