Wednesday: cancel uncancel

walkitoutWe had a playdate cancel with the B. family last weekend, but then today, we lost our sitter to the day-after-the-second-shot effects. So we postponed the double date dinner reservation, and did the playdate a few days late. It was fun! R. had thawed out a brisket anyway, so we had that, and all the adults and one of the kids had that; the other two kids had chicken nuggets. Salad, fries, and sandwich makings rounded it out, including some mushrooms and the sauteed grape tomatoes.
I did not get my long walk.
I walked with M.
I vacuumed the screened porch and furniture, thinking we might hang out there, but then W. came by and was painting the deck so never mind. We offered him brisket and he thought about it pretty hard but declined. It never got above mid-70s, so we left a lot of windows open and enjoyed the breeze. Soooo nice to have everyone on our side, and the adults on their side vaxxed so we don’t have to have masks for the playdate. We got out the partly built London Lego kit, for I. to keep working on. I told the B.’s about Dragon Box. I sent some blueberry crisp home with them, since they were too full to want any while they were here.
I. (College friend) canceled her road trip, so I won’t be seeing her in person after all. I’m a little bummed, but it was supposed to be into Canada, and they still are not letting us in. We’re going to try to do a combined Canada trip next summer, to replace our lost Quebec trip. Should be fun, if my kids don’t completely wipe her out!
