reading Yellowface
Jun. 7th, 2026 11:00 pmTomorrow is book group, so I gotta read the book. It’s very clever, with an unreliable and unsympathetic plagiarizing and possibly worse narrator. It’s the kind of insider art created by someone who has been creating a type of art for a minute, and is frustrated and wants to vent, which I am obviously sympathetic to, and includes quite a lot of really carefully depicted microaggressions from the perspective of the perpetrator. Because it is about writing and writing process, it is another one of those self-interpreting books that kind of grates on my nerves after a while. But on balance, glad I read it.
The plumbing person from Papalia showed up (called and scheduled it yesterday, so to have someone show up so promptly and on a Sunday is miraculous) and corrected the problem. Amazing! Also, R. is going to acquire a new tool. I missed the details, oh well, but the toilet no longer rocks and flushes properly, which were unrelated issues and obviously the flushing issue was what triggered the call.
K and C sent me their mattress selections, so I gotta figure out how to time ordering those to show up in time but not too early.
Oh, and R. and I drove up to Patio Barn post Papalia visit for a half hour worth of looking at patio furniture.
