The sitter came over to hang out with A. for her half day ; that went really well. She also brought T. to his swim lesson and then they went out to dinner. Long day! We are grateful.
Meanwhile, we drove out to Chicopee for R.”s second shot, then over to Amherst to meet with the architect outdoors, masked at a coffee shop. That was great! We have all kinds of very large printouts to look and mark up. Once again, I have nixed the bar on the pool deck. No bar on the pool deck! Alcohol + pool = seems super fun, and I am going to kill all the fun. No booze on the pool deck. I mean, yeah, sure, go ahead, go upstairs, get a beer, bring it down, but we are going to make that hard for you. Period. End.
Anyway. We noticed the missing music room, and tentatively put that in the upstairs extra bedroom. We _failed_ to notice the scale on the bedrooms did not include office space AND there was only one office (there is a defined separate-from-bedroom office on one side, and then all the other bedrooms are sized to allow generous space for an office alcove OR have a connected office. Noticed that at home and sent email. The kitchen has a beast of an island (it wasn’t real — just a placeholder), so after a bunch of sketching and discussion, we made it the U-kitchen I wanted, plopped the elements in very sketch-ily, took a picture and sent that off to the architect. We continue to be utterly flummoxed by the square, double height great room, but I’m looking at pictures and thinking about it.
The green roof looks pretty awesome, and in general I really love the flow and the massing. But yeah, this is definitely the first round on the schematics and there will be significant evolution.
