And of course her appearance is considered the most relevant topic in the comments. Hey, she's at least as good-looking as the algebra teacher I had in ninth grade who kept asking me to go running with him on the weekend sometime. (It still pisses me off that I didn't report him. Hell, that my mother didn't report him -- I told her about it.)

He was definitely creepy. I realized later he was jealous of the teacher I actually did have a crush on, and may even have thought there was hanky-panky going on (which there wasn't). He used to say things like "I guess you like his car better than mine," in a meaning tone. One would like to have said "Yeah, 'cause it's not driven by an asshole," but one did not think of it and it would not have done in any case.

My dad said in the early days at Boeing Computer Services, it occasionally happened that one of the guys would discover that his secretary was really smart and tell her she should go into programming. Several of the secretaries indeed became excellent programmers. Mind you, they still had to work in the kind of environment where it was normal to have copies of Playboy sitting around the break room.
