about that cheap kindle

I sent e-mail to one of my brothers-in-law to ask whether his son (who graduated from high school this year and will be starting college in the fall) might want a kindle for a graduation present. We had gone to his party, but not yet gotten him a present. The initial response was negative (something about the kid falling asleep when he borrowed his dad's kindle), but consultation with the boy yielded a "cool!", so I went to go buy him one. It turns out that enough _other_ people have pre-ordered the damn thing already that it is "sold out", with a cheery little message saying, get in line if you're lucky it'll show up on or around September 4.

Jeez.
