Very informative, both in terms of how DRM is handled, what the feature set is on the app, etc. It had not occurred to me that Amazon had limited the font selection on the kindle in order to further reduce eyestrain; now, I suspect they did.
The most informative aspect, however, is the author's discussion of how he disables one-click for book purchases and likes the slow-himself-down factor of buying through fictionwise. A completely legitimate description -- and a completely legitimate strategy for a consumer.
For the seller, however, it sure makes the kindle combination of features make a lot of sense.

Date: 2009-03-07 04:09 pm (UTC)I like the one-click and so far have been good about impulse purchases. I do wish the default for browsing the store was not to put focus on the "buy now" button. I've already accidentally purchased a book. Sure, I could easily undo the purchase, but within that 30 second window, Amazon had already dunned my credit card account and then issued a refund. That costs them, unless they made a special deal with their cc service.
I love the free samples. I didn't know that was only over whispernet until I read someone's complaint. Guess if I lived outside whispernet area I would be annoyed at that.
