Sunday: walk, dinner

A. actually got up before me. Remarkable!
I made a squash pie, brussel sprouts, mushrooms, roasted potatos. I did the brussel sprouts in two groups, one with some chicken gelatin and chicken skin cut up fine. I usually do them with bacon, but I had the skin and I thought it would be tasty. It was! I did the rest of them with bacon fat and both had balsamic vinegar. R.’s niece A. came over for dinner. We always have a really nice time hanging out with her. She stayed late enough to see T. after he came home from his shift. No family zoom, because people were not available for a variety of reasons.
The pie crust was the king arthur recipe again, but I did a quarter cup each of fake butter and olive oil, so 1 less tablespoon of fat. This was more reasonable as a pie crust. I only put one egg into the filling, and it cracked extensively. Probably should have used two. It tasted fine; it’s just an aesthetic issue.
I ordered some more soft red wheat and I noticed they had Einkorn so I ordered some of that, too. I don’t think I’ve ever tried Einkorn berries; should be fun!
