A. and I had granola and mandarins for breakfast from the emergency food bag. We walked over to Oneills on Suffolk Street, and had lunch. A. got a grilled cheese and I ate some of her salad and coleslaw. I had a really amazing mediterranean veg with vegan mozz sanwich with grilled veg on the side. I had a glass of Guinness, which was lovely. We walked over to tour the long room, but it was completely booked up. Oh well! I booked it for R. and I tomorrow at 9 am.
I sent R. and A. off to get ice cream at the ice cream lab place but it was too hot so they gave up and went to the hotel.
I went to the whisky museum and did the premium tour (4 whiskeys and a souvenir glass, vs. 3 and no glass). Tour was fun. Nice operation. Glad I did not bring the kids.
I stopped at a The Rolling Donut and got a smores donut for A. and a vegan Eton Mess and a vegan Ferrara Rocher for me. Then I went to Lidl, and bought some croissants, a pretzel and some grapes to serve as breakfast for A. I returned to the hotel, stopping at the cutest food truck ever next to the hotel, where S. and T. had gone for snacks. They had had lunch earlier, then done the Viking Splash Tour, and now more snacks. What a day out for T.! Many thanks to S. for being so kind to him.
Finally, back to the hotel to write this up, and let R. go out for an hour walk around on his own. I am attempting a load of laundry in the small combo. I have never used a combo. This is an adventure. I had half the Eton Mess donut. It is good, and I really like the sourdough doughnut that is the base for The Rolling Donut.
We did some laundry, and experienced the confusion of the combo washer dryer.
We walked over to The Brazen Head. While S. and T. were still full from lunch and snack, A. had a burger that finally worked for her, fries and apple crumble with vanilla ice cream. I had a vegan pie with mashed scoops on top and a side salad. Pretty good! So funny that I had that at Rose and Crown at Epcot, then at Murphys or whatever at Universal Studios, and now had it at The Brazen Head in Dublin. It is truly the little vegan dish that could.
I had a Smithwicks Red Ale. I have only ever had the brown in the bottle in the states. This was fine, altho I would not repeat it as this town has way too much in the way of alcoholic beverage choices. A. broke her kokoons in exactly the way D. said she had broken two pair. I think I will abandon them as they take up a lot of space in the luggage and are almost certainly not repairable. [ETA: We brought them home and R. is going to attempt a fix.]
