I paid second quarter estimateds today.

I got to thinking about what I noticed about Impressionist art over Memorial Day weekend when at the Clark (if you get the right distance and angle from the art, it has a 3D effect, but it’s a lot further back than you might expect and sometimes at a much steeper angle than it is hung, which makes it tricky). I have exactly _one_ painting of this style in the house, and it’s honestly weird that I even own it, because I have historically actively disliked this style, but I bought it on a gallery walk in Pioneer Square a really long time ago and I paid a lot for it (for me, anyway), and I’ve always found it restful. But it took until today for me to go, wait, does _that_ painting have the 3D effect? And it _does_, but it’s not on a wall room where you can get far enough away from it for it to work! D’oh!

After some experimenting, I figured out that if I hung it between the windows in the dining room, and looked at it from the slider in the eat-in kitchen, I could see it “correctly” for the 3D effect. And it looks restful no matter where you stand. I had to take the gigantic 4th grade maple tree class art project down, but I can have that hung in the eat-in where the bookcase used to be. It was looking kinda blank there, since the fish is way up high, and then nothing.

I’ve also been working on Greek in duo. I did manage to get the third star on several rapid reviews for Dutch, as well.

ETA: I went out for drinks and dinner with S. and G., who I’ve known since T. was at the preschool. They are _such_ a delight every time we hang out. We went to Stir in Westford; highly recommend! Very good drinks, really tasty small plates (we got 2X pork dumplings, the pork ribs, and 2X cauliflower bites), and they shared a creme brulee — it looked divine. I had a jalapeno peach margarita, which was really good, and a manhattan, which was also very good and very large.

R. met his niece A. over at Belmont Wheelworks and they picked out a very sweet ride for her. I hope it gives her wings for her triathlon!
