Wednesday: short day, ST:TOS

walkitoutToday, the kids had an early release for Weather, and honestly, that was a bit of an oops. The snow didn’t start until the evening, and it was warm, so it was more rain than snow. Which is fine!
T. was bored, understandably, and wanted to go see a movie, but both R. and I were uncomfortable with how that could turn out. So instead, I proposed watching some Star Trek that had Mr. Spock in it so that T. could get some sense of what his relatives were referring to when they referred to Spock-like presentation / affect / behavior.
I wasn’t _really_ sure where to start, but in the end, I re-upped at Paramount Plus (at the no-ad level) and we watched the pilot and the first episode. LOTS of stops to explain things and eventually, we negotiated that we would not stop to explain why this was so sexist or whatever, but we would carry on and only stop if a viewer could not figure out what was happening. That helped. A little.
A. is interested in exploring the Star Trek universe in more detail; T. has had enough. Understandably!
