I made some stock from a couple cobs (Monday, maybe?), water, a stick of cinnamon, cardamom pod, cumin seed, maybe some black pepper. It smelled good and looked interesting. I put it in the fridge and thought about making corn pudding, but all the corn is now gone, so new plan: I am cooking lentils de puy in the corn stock. I bought a tiny amount of the lentils at Whole Foods years ago, and am trying to get the weird little containers of stuff out of the pantry, so here we are.
I have a new rule with the clocky app and my daughter (who will watch it endlessly with me, won’t watch it by herself, and who asks a lot of questions): if I start feeling annoyed, I wrap up answering questions up to the point, close the app, and propose something different (ask her to entertain herself for an hour, usually). But today, I had an Idea: Let’s Clean the Kitchen!
She countered with, I need some exercise.
So we did the 1 mile loop together instead. Not a hard tradeoff, honestly.
Joke from the clocky app today (from Shelby’s excellent series, WITOYDP — why is that on your dating profile): what are the sexiest farm animals? Brown chicken, brown cow. So then I had to go find something that would play a funky guitar riff using the wah wah pedal and explain about porn movie soundtracks from days of yore. Husband didn’t get the joke either.
ETA:
The lentils were really good; I had some with the corn, tomato, bean soup. Tasty! I also finished off the ribs.
R. is doing a run to donate things at Savers. It’s the result — possibly exclusively the result — of A. deciding that she’s completely done with doll related items. Thus, all the doll things in the basement were okayed to go to Savers. Also! All the decluttering she has / we’ve been doing in her room went out as well. It was A Lot.
I walked with M.
Between 2 walks, laundry, running the dishwasher, collecting stuff for A.’s back to school list (we did not need to buy _anything_ this year. Yay!), and collecting stuff to head out to donation, I am now Very, Very Tired. I have a Coal Porter in front of me, my feet up and am going to try really hard not to do anything for at least 15 minutes.
