Happy T-Day!
Nov. 25th, 2021 04:19 pmWe are cooking a weird looking turkey that is missing a wing.
The squash soup is awesome.
The bottle from the 12 Days of Wine is a “Red Blend” 2018 from Oak Farm Vineyards. It is labeled “Tievoli” and “Lodi, California”. While this is in no way as awesome as Willamette or Russian River, I would do this again.
I finally air-fryered some end slice cubes of A.’s bread. I made a stuffing using them, and the out-of-bird stuffing is all crispy and crouton like. It is Awesome. I put some of the squash soup. Even More Awesome. This is a very promising T-Day experience. We are now waiting for the bird.
ETA:
Everything turned out lovely. The only additional dish that we cooked specifically for the kids was french fries (freezer, air fryer); they both ate turkey. The fridge is not crammed full. There was a R. side family zoom in two stages (with sister T. and without niece M., and without sister T.’s family but with niece M.), and I also had a two hour (!) zoom with my cousin B. and his wife. Delightful!
The bread pudding was also excellent, and now there is not an entire loaf of end slices from A.’s bread in the freezer. We’ve gotten back in the habit of inverting the end slices for her grilled cheese sandwiches, so this is unlikely to build up again unless I want it to in order to make more croutons. Which were awesome.
