Monday: half day
Nov. 1st, 2021 11:00 pmToday is a half day and tomorrow is a Professional Day so no school for students. It’ll be a three and a half day week for the kids.
Today, I was awake around 1:30 am to use the bathroom, so while I was up, I logged onto lego.com and ordered the Home Alone set for my daughter, and the Titanic, because my sanity is now completely compromised, and I really like that color red.
Much later in the day, I was reminded to update wish lists on Amazon, and in addition to updating socks and underwear preferences on the kids’ lists and my list, I bought (did not put on list) an Oculus bundle for A., because she’s been missing VR during the pandemic. We used to do it a couple times a year when we went to Disney, because both Downtown Disney in California and Disney Springs in Florida had The VOID and we had a lot of fun going there. Alas, mid-pandemic, it looked like The VOID would never come back, and while there are rumors now, it is unclear whether that’s going to happen any time soon, or in a place we could access it anyway. Obviously, a single headset at home is not going to recreate the gaming party glory days, but on the other hand, perhaps there are Game With Distant Friends options with Oculus. We’ll see.
I also ordered a Premium Beer advent box and a wine advent box from Westford Craft Cellars. I’m not super optimistic about the quality of the wine box — the price seems kinda low for 12 full size bottles to be any good OTOH, it potentially could be a freakishly amazing discovery experience. Westford Craft curates really well, so if they’ve found good inexpensive wine I’d sure be interested in the details. This is a way to find out.
I had not really planned on it being a Holiday Shopping Day, but that is definitely what it turned into.
ETA: The Titanic, by the end of the day, was marked Out of Stock. Apparently we’ve all been Well Trained to buy the second that shit lands on the corporate site.
