The next six weeks or so will likely be among the grimmest of my entire life. I mean, not for me personally; I am fine. Just that the pandemic is looking pretty awful, and we have not even gotten the peak post-T-Day travel, much less the rest of the holiday season.
I offered the Hogwarts Lego set to the person who was super enthusiastic about all my posts when we were building it — I had told her I would pass it along to her if we ever decided we did not want it any more, and that day came much sooner than I had anticipated. Good news, tho; she is not super likely to find it painful to look at — her politics are quite different than mine. She even came over to pick it up, and specifically asked for the handoff to be outdoors. She said on the porch; I said I would leave it in the garage and open the door when she came by. Between it being damp from the rain and the —unlikely — possibility of it being a tempting target, that seemed a wiser course. She seems happy to get it, and I am sure happy to have moved it along.
The photographer came by with the 5X7 prints. She knows I like to send them out to family and a few friends as part of our holiday mailer, and while our whole order was not ready, she made sure those were. Perfect timing — that was day 2 of addressing cards. Normally, I would take the two dozen (slightly less than) photo mailers to the post office to have postage put on them and since they are all packages and to zip codes around the country (and two overseas), this is a time consuming process. Last year, I picked a dead time, and the woman did half, then made me wait while she processed the rest of the line that built up behind me, before finishing. *sigh* This year, I have calculated the postage myself, penciled it in in the upper right hand corner, and am figuring out what stamps to get to not have to have her do it. I will have to go to the post office to get the stamps, but I have some other packages to mail anyway that are unrelated to the photo mailer and more complex. Altho now that I say that, I am thinking maybe I should just work out the postage on those, too. Hmmm.
I registered T. for two weeks of camp. I told them to hang onto the money from last summer being canceled, and they had a code for avoiding having to charge a deposit. So that worked out well. Unfortunately, it landed on top of our planned trip to Hershey. Who knows, mind you, if any of these will actually happen. I called my sister, and she wants Hershey moved a little earlier, since she has a trip planned in July, and we have a different trip planned in August (my trips are all road, not air, and the August one is at the Cape anyway so at least I will not have to worry about quarantine for that one).
The piano teacher was due here today, however, he has household members not feeling great and they traveled for T-day, so that got moved to tomorrow and is a zoom lesson now. Probably for the best, but hopefully it is just allergies or a cold.
The sitter canceled today; she did not sleep well the night before.
I walked with M.
I did the long walk by myself. I did a one mile loop by myself.
I had a great, long phone conversation with J.
I had a great phone conversation with K.
