Christmas Day: Dinner and a Show
Dec. 25th, 2019 11:00 pmHappy Christmas! Or whatever!
I got up and took A. down to breakfast. Then I left her in the hotel room, and woke R. up. I drove T. in to look at the Thomas Jefferson Memorial. Other than some joggers, cyclists and one photographer, we had the place to ourselves. The basin was clear as glass. The sky was blue. The view was excellent.
Note to self: in future winter trips, plan on doing monuments on Christmas Day! Gorgeous and quiet! Also, free and easy to park.
After that, I came back, and we packed up the food and headed to my sister’s house. We cooked the prime rib (bone in). We made: sweet potatoes with crisp topping, spinach salad, green bean casserole (not the best), onion rings (separate from casserole because R.), boston baked beans (Phenomenal!), collard greens with bacon, and a side of mushrooms as well has home made horseradish. All very tasty! I had a couple manhattans. My sister had some red wine. R. had a beer (I think it was an ommegang, but not sure).
We are off to see Jumanji: The Next Level later this afternoon, but in the meantime, we put everything in the dishwasher (leftovers in fridges), left T. with my sister and the rest of us went back to the hotel to hang out and brush teeth. We might or might not have nut tarts after the movie; depends on how tired we are.
