Saturday: departure day
Nov. 9th, 2019 11:00 pmWe packed up, turned extra groceries over to my MIL who is driving back to the Villages and thus has people she can share them with. We did not go into the parks on departure day, because T. has decided that we do not do that anymore. Which is fine — I never planned on touring parks on travel days, it just sort of started happening and I quit fighting it.
We did not lose any park days to illness, despite a bunch of colds and one round of GI that hit A., me, and my Priestess. It was not too bad; one pill of imodium took care of it and that was that. I did not even skip any meals.
Concierge level at Royal Pacific at UO is absolutely worth the price upgrade from equivalent rooms. I do not say that because I love it — I could take it or leave it. But wow, does the rest of the crowd love it. And it is pretty amazing never having to figure out where to get a beverage, and having an alternative place to hang out.
The flight home was delayed by a half hour, but otherwise uneventful. We checked four bags. I brought lunch that I did not eat on the plane, but which came in handy for dinner at home (and I think I will finish it off tomorrow morning — pb & J bagels, and cole slaw, basically). K. was our driver, which we always enjoy. Traffic going home was excessive for a Saturday night, in both directions, and we kept being approached by motorcycle cops who then cut off traffic (all lanes! On the highway!) ... behind us. Mysterious! We assume some sort of dignitary was driving around.
On the whole, this is probably the smoothest of all of the Disney trips I have ever taken. It was remarkable for its lack of major conflict. At one point, the group was up to 12 (not overnights — that never exceeded 10, but we had a couple people visit for a few hours), and everything stayed pretty manageable.
