Tuesday: pancakes!
Aug. 13th, 2019 11:00 pmFor the first time ever, we tried Polle's Kitchen, the pancake house on the main route along the fountains. They have lactose free pancakes but cannot produce no milk product pancakes; I will check on this again when we are next there. I am betting they will have a vegan option by then.
The pancakes in this case are quite thin, you get one and it is large in area. You can either have plain, and then put sweet stuff on it like sugar syrup or powdered sugar or sprinkles or whatever. Or you can get a variety of sweet or savoury inclusions and/or toppings. R. and A. both liked what they ordered. We bought the pancake cookbook and the taartje cookbook at the Symbolica gift shop -- there are a lot of allergy friendly options in the books and I will see what I can do. This type of pancake is clearly related to but not the same as crepes, and worth getting good at, because you could make a lot of them rather quickly and customize them for individuals in a large group without too much trouble.
ETA: It was really hard to get everyone to sleep this night. We were totally conked out Monday night, because of the tiny amount of sleep on the plane. But we were rested today, and evening came way too early for what we were used to. I wound up getting so frustrated with the tossing and turning and what have you that I got up, went downstairs, got a snack and researched a road trip to Quebec that we were supposed to do this year but never got around to planning. I just need to pick a time next summer and make reservations: I have found hotels and a bunch of interesting restaurants and sights to see along the way.
