I am grateful to live in a country that enjoys a great deal of freedom of many varieties. I am glad to be able to participate in our vigorous civil discourse as we all work to keep our country a place where all kinds of people can find and make happy homes and work together to have good lives.

In keeping with a long tradition for the 4th, we got together with friends and cooked things outdoors. The chicken and burgers were tasty. The hot dogs smelled great. The vegan pesto from Trader Joe’s made a really nice pasta salad. I made Peach Mint drinks. It was a good time. The kids only fought a little.

In the morning, I took T. over to visit the woman who used to be a play therapist for the kids, but this was a social visit. They are working on their house, and T. had been excited to look at the plans a year or so ago and we had a nice time chatting about and looking at the work so far.

I probably should have vacuumed the screened porch before the kids went out there to play and eat. Oh well! I did vacuum it before everyone brought pollen back into the house.
