The kids had horse at the same time, so we went as a family. Bickering! Fun! I had a nice chat with M.
After that, the question arose, where for lunch? I said, probably 110 Grille. Kids immediately objected to me picking. I said, okay, where do you want to go? There was a pause, followed by, 110 Grille. Oh, Puberty! I am wise to your ways.
After that, we drove to New Hampshire to attend a birthday party. I was prepared! It was hot. I knew they had a pool, and I brought 3 (extra for a friend!) big water guns. T. has one where the reservoir is a standard soda bottle, so if you have multiple bottles, you can Be Prepared. Unnecessary in a pool, of course. A. has two: a largish pink one, and a stealthily tiny pink one with a backpack reservoir. If you don't know about the backpack reservoir (a pink heart with angel wings! I love Amazon!), you have no idea what she is pointing at you.
Anyway. I also remembered to bring frisbee rings (which we never used) and my waterproof camera, an Olympus TG-5, which I desperately wanted to test out. I _forgot_ to bring my prescription goggles. Oh well! I know better now! I also didn't put the camera strap on, but didn't realize that would matter until later.
We had a great time. Between three of us, we figured out the most salient parts of the camera (how to take still and video, and the setting to produce better pictures under water).
There was some lobbying from A. for more time on a swingset and/or more pool time, but I made them go home and by the time we got there, no one wanted to do anything but take a shower and watch TV and prep stuff for Monday.
ETA: If you are wondering, did you remember birthday presents? Yes! I had them delivered to the birthday kids' home, which was not where the party was. See? I'm not _that_ awful!
