I dropped A. off at her day camp for this week. Peter Pippo's Karate in Acton is conveniently located, has a huge parking lot, and is easy to find. The facility is clean and inviting, and Peter and Nicole are wonderful people. A. was happily chatting with other kids already there when I dropped her off after a brief tour. As always, I made sure they had my phone number, and to call me if there were any problems -- I was just going to be at home, except when I was gone for my Dutch lesson and then my husband would be available within a few minutes.

I had a great walk with M. Alas, while we were hanging out, and (fortunately) before I headed east to go to my lesson, I got a call. A. was not able to tolerate the noise level. The kids were having a _great_ time playing group games -- but A. doesn't deal with noise well at all. I don't know why I didn't anticipate this at all, but a bunch of people who know A. quite well didn't anticipate it either. Turns out that horse camp is pretty quiet, or you scare the horses and that is dangerous. Computer camp? Also, quiet. Martial arts day camp? Super fun -- but not quiet. Oh well! Nicole and Peter tried really hard and they are awesome people running an awesome camp, and I may try taking A. back just for karate lessons at some point (possibly one on one) but the noise level did not work for A.

In the meantime, I will make a point of remembering when picking out day camp options in the future: must be relatively quiet!

I got a bunch of laundry done today. A. and I had lunch at home. She mostly watched TV. I may try to get her into a day or two at Planet Gymnastics -- she has enjoyed their day camps / parents night out / lessons before.

All in all, 4 out of 5 weeks of camp _did_ work out, despite not being explicitly "inclusive". A. got way more hours of structured activity time than she would have through her ESY. She learned things, and even made at least one new friend, as well as getting to spend time with a friend she already knew from pre school and previous summer programs.

I downloaded the photos from my new waterproof camera (Olympus TG-5). And movies. R. figured out how to do video -- I had trouble. M. figured out how to adjust settings to get better underwater shots (stills and video). Lots of kids in the pool provided endless photo opportunities. I have really funny video of A. shooting the camera with a water gun. Nice!

I ordered a floating camera strap able to float up to 7 ounces of camera -- I think that's enough for this but I'll double check. It occurred to me -- repeatedly -- that if I take this snorkeling, I could easily lose it be letting go of it and watching it sink deeper and faster than I can free dive. Also, I need to find my prescription goggles to use with this.

ETA: I just realized that A. and I can sleep in for the rest of the week. Wheeeee! Summer!!!!!
