When I booked this trip, I was searching for float trips in Grand Teton, because my son had asked to do a raft trip while we were at Grand Canyon. I said we could do a calm trip first and see how it went. This is about as calm as it gets. Little did I know that Signal Mountain Lodge ran their own float trips. Oh well! I had already booked and paid for Triangle X, which had probably the second most favorable reviews online.

We had a 2:30 2 hour trip, and it was just our group (8 of us). We had a nice time and no one fell out. The girls liked putting their hands in the water and collecting the little aquatic bugs that almost look like moths, but not quite. It was a hot day, but cooler on the water. Several members of our party got sunburned, but A. and I did not (combination of good clothing choices and strategic supplementation with sunblock — sunblock only just doesn’t seem to do the trick for us).

We had dinner at Signal Mountain Lodge again after. We were all a little cranky from being in direct sunlight for so long, but dinner put us back in a good mood. My sister and I both did laundry. It’s a good thing there is a bug zapper _in_ the laundry room, because the mosquitoes sure like that space, and there’s a lot of traffic in and out and screen doors alone cannot deal with (you need the airlock configuration of doors to deal with this kind of thing).

T. and R. finally got a chance to drive up Signal Mountain. It is a long slow drive, and a good view.
