walkitout: (Default)
I woke up with a severe case of the Mondays and canceled Dutch. Nothing contagious. (And no, not hungover either. You do the math.) M. visited but we didn’t walk. Later in the evening, I did the long walk. I was so out of it, tho, that after I cooked dinner I must have bumped one of the knobs on the stove; when I got home after about an hour on the phone with my sister while walking, the whole house smelled like mercapten. Whoops! Neither R. nor A. had noticed or tracked it down. After I took out the garbage and recycling, cleaned and dried the dishes, and the smell hadn’t abated, I asked R. to come downstairs to talk about the smell — when asked, he immediately said what it was, I went straight to the stove, found the offender and turned it off. We opened the slider, the kitchen window and turned on the fan. When the worst of it was out, we turned on a burner with no flash, so, yay. We’re not dead. I’ve done this once before, but had also left the fan on and didn’t notice it for hours because there was no gas buildup. Sometimes, I really feel like I should just leave the kitchen fan on all the time to protect me from my own occasional absent mindedness.

We had the cod from Sun Basket for dinner. I had the Plated shiitake veggie bowl for lunch.

I also had a nice phone call with K.
