We didn’t go anywhere. Because it was snowing. A lot. We did not lose power, so we worked on taxes (we had worked on them some already, and because of a lack of some documents, we won’t be able to actually file until later in the year, so the goal is to get to a point where we can produce a real extension number).
T. was super well behaved all day, and in a good mood. He worked on his typing, and leveled up and printed a certificate on typing.com and shared it with us. Very exciting! Typing well is important, but honestly, the Find a Useful Activity and Do It On One’s Own Skill is even more impressive. He also watched some movies. Because, snow day.
I was supposed to receive some things today, however, they did not arrive. Because, snow.
I made a Vieux Carre with Brothership, which is “Irish-American” whisky from Philadelphia. Clearly, that’s not a Vieux Carre anymore (altho it was very tasty). After some consideration, I have decided to call it a Vieux Kerry. A friend / former coworker from bookstore days suggested calling it Corktown, an old Irish neighborhood in Philadelphia Back In the Day. That’s a great name, but I think I’ll use it for a Manhattan variant using Brothership. So if you know how to lay hands on a bottle of Bartram’s Bitters, I’ll pay handsomely for it. Because that would make the perfect Corktown. Along with the Brothership, of course.
This time of year, I use procrastinating on doing taxes to get all sorts of other things done. Having gotten the extension out, and paid Q1 estimateds, how am I going to convince myself to do anything productive? Oh well. I did some time on the treadmill, and lifted, and I am continuing my Duolingo streak (I think I’m at 34 or 35 now), so, it’s not like I’m totally useless.
