T. had vision therapy and went to Via Lago, so the sitter dropped him off at Acton Rec Center (the new one on Audubon Rd) for Moana, Island Themed movie night. We had already dropped A. off. We’ve tried parents night out activities at Planet Gymnastics, but this was done with the Town Rec Department and we will definitely be doing this again. $5/kid, 3 hours (6:30-9:30), competent staff, nice kids, great building, crafts, snacks and a movie. What could be better? We took ourselves off for drinks and a light dinner at Less Than Greater Than. We chatted a bit more with our server than we often do, and I tried a Brooklyn after having a Vanderbilt. R. had a Oaxaca Old-Fashioned. All were awesome, but I have only ever _read_ Oaxaca, never heard it pronounced, so I didn’t understand the word at first (“Weehauken? Like New Jersey?” Oh, dear, no.). But hey, now I can pronounce that word! Yay!
I made a remark to the server when we were asking for recommendations on drinks to try that my New Year’s Resolution (this is actually not a joke) was to learn to consistently make more kinds of drinks. He responded by recommending three books, and when I pulled my phone out to write them down, because there was no way I was going to remember, he stopped me, got pen and paper and wrote them down for me. Nice guy! If you want them, here they are: PDT, Death and Co, and Liquid Intelligence.
