T. was actually _on his van_, school transport, when the van driver received a radio call informing her that there would be a _two hour_ delay at his school. That’s leaving it a little late! The van driver returned him home, but we were not called, so R. didn’t even know he was in the house. Meanwhile, I was fielding a call from A.’s school saying that while school was not delayed, the bus might be and maybe we should just get her to school some other way.
Two hours and 20 minutes after T.’s initial pickup, I called his transportation and said, where’s his van? They were like, it’ll be there on a two hour delay when is it due. I’m like, 20 minutes ago. The van driver had told the two kids on the van, btw, it won’t be me picking you up in two hours, I have another job. But the van driver — and this did not surprise me, I really should have gone with my impulse to call transportation and tell them — did not tell transportation. So they didn’t know they needed to wrangle a replacement driver. They put me on hold for a really long time. I had gone to the bathroom and driven T. halfway to school before they picked up the hold.
Some things, you just start to get used to. T. predicted a delay due to temperature. I was skeptical. Next time, I will pay more attention to him.
On the way home, I stopped at Acton Framers and picked up the two pictures I’d left sitting there. They apparently called me to pick them up on Nov 20. T-weekend, credit card fraud and the December holidays later, it finally occurred to me to go get them. Still not sure how I missed the call.
ETA: R. and I had date night at Less Than Greater Than. I don’t drink rum drinks and it was tiki night but I did have a Lion’s Tail — it was tasty, despite having a bunch of spices I am no particular fan of. I followed it up with a Sazerac. Also, avocado tacos and kimchi peanuts. Yum.
T. and I went to the Bowladrome and he played a couple games and worked his way through the arcade. I joined him for air hockey. That was fun — he won (legit won, I wasn’t slacking off after the first few minutes made it clear he had gotten really good).
We followed that up with a quick trip to Donelan’s.
