Possibly the most disappointing early entrance ever -- Forbidden Journey was down, so it was just hippogriff and a lot of people with front of the line privileges. We forgot to bring our wands on this trip (oops) so I bought A. another Hermione wand and we did some spells. She's gotten much better at them, and when we switched parks (train, always fun) she specifically asked to go in the dark place, by which she meant Knockturn Alley.
We had lunch at the Chocolate Factory. Unfortunately, they don't have any milk free chocolate other than some soy ice cream (so they can make a soy chocolate milk shake and that's about it). I had the southwest salad minus the cheese. A. tried the waffle -- she liked the bacon but not the waffle, so we got her the burger sliders. She thought those were really adorable and also liked the way they tasted. C. had the best deal: she got the flourless chocolate cake and gluten-free chocolate ice cream, pretty close to exactly the kind of thing she had wanted for her most recent birthday, so a nice belated birthday sweet for her.
I had a headache, so we went back to the hotel. C. took A. to the game room / arcade where, predictably, A. wanted to win a prize and ran out of money. C. exercised pretty amazing skills and talked to A. about addiction and letting things go, and how it is better to buy things than to try to win them and similar useful life lessons. They came back to the room to get A.'s iPad and I gave A. the choice to hang out with me, which she took, but she seemed quite serene and happy after hanging out with C. despite the meltdown at the arcade. This is _amazing_, and I'm very grateful to A.'s grandma for doing this for / with her.
We had an early dinner at Mythos. This time I noticed the vegan pad thai and had that. It was yummy. A. went back to the hotel with my sister's family; C. and I went on the Jimmy Fallon Race Through New York ride. It was _awesome_. The barbershop quintet was _hilarious_ (especially their rendition of Blurred Lines). The ride itself was really funny, very run-around-backstage-bit but instead around New York and to the moon and back. With hashtag the panda and Sara and Gary. I will do that ride again.
I'm a little hazy on the details, but I think today was the day we did Gringott's, once with C., and again just A. and me.
