There are proposals circulating to put high (1000%) tax rates on “assault rifle” type weapons. I applaud this thinking! There are a lot of things that are sufficiently broadly used that just banning them out of existence is unlikely to work. Why not at least make it more difficult, expensive, and then divert some of that annoying money to better things. Why should the gun makers get all the juicy money.
I never thought of it before even tho, in retrospect, it does seem kinda obvious as an idea. So many of the very best ideas are the result of mechanically taking a strategy from one context and trying it in a new one.
