I set up World Map, and figured I should have something to listen to while I did it, so I started with the Kim Rachmeler episode of Dave Schappell’s Invent Like an owner Podcast, and started on the map. https://inventlikeanowner.com/podcast/kim-rachmeler-tells-how-we-built-amazon/ The map kit is fun in a super repetitive way, and listening to Kim and Dave chat is an absolute joy.

Partway into the Joel Spiegel episode ( https://inventlikeanowner.com/podcast/joel-spiegel-setting-up-amazon-marketplace/ ), I took a break to unpack the CSA delivery from Siena Farms. I cook a bunch of things, and prep others (peel carrots and cut them up for snacks, type of thing). Joel is such a sweetie, and a lot of what this episode is about happened after I left, so it answered a lot of questions about things I missed out on, but knew other people who went through. Hearing the argument in favor of 3rd party sellers laid out so clearly is really great, and of course Joel and Dave present it in the absolutely most pragmatic without tipping over into cynical way.

It is crazy hot everywhere, but especially in the Pacific Northwest. My heart goes out to everyone there, and everyone everywhere struggling to deal with the high temperatures. Fingers crossed today is the worst of it for a while, anyway. Maybe it will motivate people to take seriously the urgency of decarbonizing.

ETA: I wound up doing 3 columns of the World Map (out of 8, I think?), and listening to more episodes from Invent Like an Owner (Blake Scholl, Alex Edelman and Shawn Haynes). I have three more to go, and likely another one will show up in a few days. I’ll probably run out of podcast before I run out of World Map, so I’ll have to come up with another solution probably tomorrow, or definitely Wednesday. I did not know Scholl, Edelman or Haynes, despite substantial overlap with the latter two (Scholl was well after my time — he’s apparently now doing supersonic airplanes for normal people). They’re all smart, energetic, articulate people. I remembered a lot of Edelman stories from my friend E., but I’m surprised I had such little awareness of Haynes. He’s a delight to listen to, very low-key and a very organized thinker who is absolutely rock solid on priorities in every respect.
