All the Things: mRNA edition
Jun. 5th, 2021 01:51 pmI spend a lot of time telling people that they should trust the mRNA vaccines from Moderna and Pfizer, they are the best vaccines we have ever had, the most studied, the safest, the most effective, yada yada yada and then I wind up by saying: I think we should go back and redo all the old vaccines with mRNA ones because they would be better.
Well, never fucking mind! There are Bright, Bright Days Ahead, Dear Readers! There are mRNA vaccine candidates for herpes 2, CMV and RSV (I know, generally neither is a problem, but occasionally, they are an absolute nightmare, and statistically, that occasional nightmare is a real problem) and BEST OF ALL, there’s an HIV candidate.

I realize that there is some time between having a candidate and having something you can get at the local CVS / mass vax center, but we’ve already shown we can speed that process up.
The future looks bright indeed.
