walkitoutI had two guests!
Obviously, I saw my MIL in her house in April when we were in Florida, and we had lunch with her. Equally obviously, last August I went to LBI and shared a rental house with my sister and her family for a few days. I’ve never stopped walking and visiting with my friend M. (including having a snack indoors) (except for some brief post-exposure things), and while there was a long gap without T.’s sitter, once she was back in our life, we’ve seen a lot of her indoors. I’ve hugged M., the sitter, my MIL, her brother, my sister and her family. My year has not been limited to the people who sleep in my house every night. Also, other people have entered the house: the piano teacher, the piano tuner, various people doing various services in the house, delivering furniture, etc.
And still, today felt amazingly wonderful and special. Two long-time friends came over, who I have not seen for over a year. They are both fully vaccinated; R. and I are about a week and a half after our second shot. T. was not home; A. was upstairs most of the time. No masks. We hung out. I showed them my office. We went for a walk. We had blondies. I showed them the schematics for the house we are planning. In so many ways, an utterly pleasant and uneventful afternoon visit. But what a change! I even got a hug. I was very careful to greet them outdoors from a distance and lay out the options — we had talked a little ahead of time, but I wanted to be as respectful of everyone’s comfort level as it was possible to be. They thanked me for that, and the entire time was a delight, start to finish.
I’m not ready to throw a party, but I think I’m ready to start planning one.

I did the long walk by myself.
I did a bunch of vacuuming indoors, and also on the porch, in case they wanted to hang out on the screened porch. It was very pollen-laden.
