I think the slam at Banfield was entirely justified and justifiable and is not an example of ageism against Banfield (but probably is instead an attack on the audience of HLN, which consists largely and provably of a generation of people inclined to blame women when they have bad dates, rather than the men who made those dates so spectacularly awful).
I have not bothered to listen to what Banfield had to say, nor do I intend to.
