walkitoutI went to Whole Foods to do some grocery shopping. I also got a rental car. Even with walkable to my sister's house, it just seemed like a good idea.
After Whole Foods, I helped my sister with dinner. The turkey was done very early, so we had to hurry through getting the sides ready. We wound up using a microwave steamer (she has several Pampered Chef steamers that she got at the thrift) to hurry the yams, brussel sprouts, etc. along. I made put apple crisp topping (oatmeal, whole wheat, brown sugar, cinnamon and vegetable oil) on the yams; that turned out really nice. I also made an apple crisp. The brussel sprouts used up the cooked bacon in the house; they were yummy. My sister made a mashed cauliflower dish (heavy on the dairy) that was popular. The turkey was great; R. carved.
R.'s cousin S. was able to join us for dinner. She showed up with perfect timing! It was a great meal, tasty and fun.
