There was some confusion about when we were arriving, but we got it all squared away. We were able to check into our VakantieHuis in/next to De Kuilart. Very nice! Of course it is -- super clean and everything handy. As soon as we unloaded, we called A. (not my A.), we headed out, stopped at a McDonald's along the way where they were happy to break a 100 note -- except there was something wrong with that POS system and they wound up having to switch to a different one but at no point did they suggest we produce a smaller bill. We'd run through a lot of our smaller stuff and were starting to look for opportunities to break the larger stuff (gas stations are particularly good for this, as are grocery stores and places like McD's).

We had coffee and cookies with A., who initially did not recognize me. She's a little more frail than she was two years ago, but still as friendly and welcoming and fun to be around as ever. Doing very well for 86, as she likes to say. Her English remains excellent; she mostly used English and I used about half and half. That seems to work out okay for us.

Tomorrow, Ameland! Meanwhile, laundry. Lots of laundry to catch up on, because there really isn't any good place to do laundry at Efteling, about the only imaginable negative about staying there.
