A piece of technology that was supposed to help guests return to their room (the elevator would know where you wanted to go) was instead deployed as a name tag so the bartender can greet you by name.

Nice.

I kind of like the idea that I could pre-communicate _once_ all my dietary issues.

Clearly they were not thinking of the kind of traveler who wants to get AWAY from where everyone knows their name :-)

do you think they do any authentication?

Or could you just make up a name when you check in? I suppose it would have to match your credit card . . .

Soon to be: so the store/bar/whatever can instantly review your purchase history and credit rating so they know what to advertise at you next, in a personalized chummy way, with the highest potential for a successful sale.

It would be even nicer if the bartender could use it to monitor consumption and cut the heavy drinkers off.
