Update on the Irritation

walkitoutMy irritating commenter has decided to leave in a huff because I am rude. The only part about this that confuses me is that he posted in the first place; I _started out_ being rude to him.

I'm particularly stunned that he only just _now_ noticed that Buzzy Jackson summarized the Charlemagne theory incorrectly (which was in the original post he was responding to). Narcissism in action, I guess.
I went over all of this in great detail back in late Spring. If he'd been nice about it, I would have produced a summary blog entry describing all the problems and why they are problems. If he'd been neutral, I would have dug up URLs for all the old entries and pointed him at them.
I get that there are people in this world (in my experience, they're older than me, white and male, and have generations of family members who attended college, which suggests this might be a cultural thing) who seem to think that abrasive verbal sparring is a reasonable form of entertainment that Just Anyone Might Want to Engage In. I disagree. Abrasive verbal sparring is how you get people to Go Away. Nice to know it works.
