walkitoutI have not been able to narrow down the time frame on increasing segregation of bathhouses as I had wanted to. However, it appears that loss of forest and therefore increasing fuel costs did in public bathhouses around the 14th century (other than for the quite rich).
Either way, _well_ before that mid-17th century date.
