no baby, prenatal update
Sep. 22nd, 2008 04:50 pmWent to acupuncture again, then a prenatal. Poor R. is very stressed because he had to deal with T. at the appointment. Nice to know T. doesn't save up all this activity just for me.
Everything is just fine. We're just running right up against the calendar at this point. So we're starting the process of scheduling a section (*sigh*). The place the midwives recommend is a bit of a drive (same place, same doctor as the VBAC consult), but they don't have a nursery, unlike the closer places. Which is good; people who have nurseries tend to want to use them. A lot. No scheduled slot yet, because the person who owns the schedule went home already; maybe we'll know tomorrow. We're trying for Thursday or Friday.
So, once again, on the clock. We've been down _exactly_ this path before. I keep telling myself that in terms of starting labor in time, things worked great last time. And this baby is in a better position than T. was, which would imply a shorter, less-painful labor.
Think good thoughts my way.
My mother-in-law arrives tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. and can stay through Sunday; my sister-in-law can potentially help out Fri-Sun. Things could all come together in a truly beautiful, logistically amazing way. They could. Really.

Date: 2008-09-22 09:57 pm (UTC)I was supposedly three weeks late, by the way, but my mom had five-week cycles (something I have always wished for myself, but never gotten), so I was probably only a 42-weeker.

Date: 2008-09-22 10:20 pm (UTC)In other words, it's not like we're going to have any iatrogenic prematurity here. :-)
Last time at this point (41 weeks 6 days, going by LMP), labor started very slowly at sundown, continued through the next day, really got going at 42 weeks and we went through the night and into the afternoon of 42 weeks 1 day before going to the OR.
I am slightly dilated, but only very, very slightly. But then again, that's about where I was this time last time.
Just to make things even more entertaining, I'm trying really hard to work the umbrella theory (despite my last failure with book group). I attempted to book a hotel in Keene, near Cheshire Medical Center. Wouldn't you know, most of the hotels are booked solid due to a marathon and parents weekend at the college nearby. I did, however, make a reservation at a motel court/cottages Thursday-Sunday with 24 hour cancellation policy. It would have been perfect if they required a week's cancellation; that'd practically guarantee that we not wind up out there. But this isn't bad, and should we wind up out there, it will help to not have to have people driving an hour each way from home to where I am.
And we've got one more acupuncture appointment on Wednesday. There's a wonderfully last-minute set of possibilities (nothing happens until Wednesday evening and we spend Wednesday night at the birth center and from there, anything can happen).
There isn't a pool, but if there _were_ a pool, one person is already out of the money, because they were betting on Friday. R.'s dad's b-day was last week and he was really hoping for that. Which just goes to show how effective some of this kind of stuff isn't.
