T. and I went to Acton Toyota of Littleton (you know all those rules about naming your business when you start out that seem like, LOL what, well, here is a perfect example). Anyway. They were great! Awesome buying experience. Since it’s new plates, we’ll probably get the car on Wednesday, but we’ll see.

We called AAA to add the car to our policy, and it was at this point that learned / was reminded of why I wanted that thing registered in my name or jointly in my / T.’s name: you can only have cars on your policy that are owned exclusively by the insured, or where at least one of them is the primary insured. Ooops. That’s okay. They’re there to sell policies, so we bought one for T. And since we get our insurance from MAPfre with AAA as the broker, he also needed a AAA membership, which they kindly comped him for one year of. While it was not cheap, there’s a slight chance that now that he has his own insurance, having him named on ours will be cheaper (not enough, but still), and honestly, this was going to happen eventually anyway. It’ll give him more visibility into the total cost of living, which is part of growing up anyway.

I took A. to Moodz and her cut is delightful! We remembered to bring shampoo and conditioner, and to say no product with scent and Rachel was awesome and did a great job and so no lasting negativity from the experience. Yay!

We had dinner at 603 Bistro with the B.’s. We were supposed to go to Woods Hill Table but Things happened on their side so it had to be Nashua. And then it was going to be Mike’s Italian (formerly variations on Michael Timothy’s), but that menu is a complete loser for me based on the cheese game (find all the items on the menu that contain no cheese whatsoever). I could have had an unmodified house salad and cocktails, and that was about it. Sad. So, I spoke up for a change (look, if I was looking forward to Woods Hill Table and then you swap for a house salad and a cocktail at an MT restaurant with a cheese game menu, even I will speak up for myself), and then found 603 Bistro. New Favorite Restaurant. Love it. Can’t take A. there because the noise levels are too high when it’s busy, but we could go during a quiet time. Live music. Private dining room. Great menu, veg/vegan menu available on request, items that can be made GF listed clearly on the main menu, great bartender, all women working there and _fantastic_ service. Attentive, friendly, and not intrusive. Absolutely magical experience.

I bought a light meter (just a cheap one on the Zon). I have been experimenting with it, as has R. We’re trying to understand what level of lighting I like, and I figured this is an easy way to find out. I now actually understand this article:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lux

This is proof that experiential learning works. And also, I think I now fully understand what the architect has been trying to do with those narrow aperture, super high lumens, highly dimmable LED recessed lights at a 1 per square meter (look I’m exaggerating, but by less than you might think. There are 4 of these things in the hall entry lav) rate. I don’t want it, and it would force me to let the electrician put in a RadioRa system so I’m absolutely throwing down on this, but at least I now _get_ it.

Also! The me that shops for lighting in the morning is extremely practical and often kinda boring. The me that shops for lighting in the evening is highly interrupted (which sucks) but hits a great balance between Love and Functional and other people can related to it, too. The me that shops for lighting at 1 am is unhinged, and should have gone to bed an hour earlier, because that me’s work will be seen by morning me and it’s not good. I’m sure there’s a larger lesson here, but I can’t be bothered to work out the details.
