Wednesday: voice nearly gone

I’m supposed to have a phone call today, but it is clearly going to be one of those The Other Party Must Do Most of the Talking situations. And probably also still short.
I read Casey Blair’s Tales from a Magical Teashop. Really fun! I keep wondering when this is going to get old, and it is just not. Blair very thoughtfully laid out the stories in an order that makes it clear when each is set and also groups them by These Might Spoiler Book N. Nicely done! In the author notes, Blair indicates she worked at a root beer shop (who knew such a thing could exist!?!), and the customer service elements in the stories (and the novels) definitely _felt_ like someone who knew the tradeoffs of customer service in an in person context. With some stories, I kept wondering if these could be used as training materials or in a business school curriculum.
Last night I belatedly remembered that I had some home made chicken broth in the fridge. It had not gone bad, so I had a couple mugs of chicken broth with the usual decorations (black pepper, red pepper, soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, powdered ginger). That helped me feel much, much better. I mean, obviously, nothing is going to magically fix this thing (sadly) but I’m thinking there is more chicken broth in my immediate future.
