No piano lesson; the instructor canceled. It was going to be virtual anyway, so honestly this is probably for the best. While T. and R. do fine with virtual, A. struggles.

However, I did take T. to martial arts and we had breakfast at Vic’s. Fun!

R. went for a long bike ride and then to a party and did not head home until 10 pm. Fun! He had really worked to make sure the rest of us knew we could come along, but I also knew that trying to get A. to stay for very long was not likely to work, so we passed.

Meanwhile, at home, A. and I made a cake. I found a chocolate cake box mix with a December 2021 best by date and figured, why not today! I made homemade frosting tho, with the last of the Imperfect Foods baking chocolate, some spread, and Bailey’s almondmilk or whatever that stuff is called. I also put the good chocolate sprinkles on it. Two layers, heart pan.

T. drove to and from martial arts. On the way home, we talked about not trying to get as quickly as possible to maximum speed limit / not continuing at max speed limit to as close as possible to a stop sign or traffic light. I explained that this is energy inefficient, dangerous, and uncomfortable to passengers. He was working on that and doing very well, when we were heading to the intersection in Stow before the library. There, we were passed by a white Ford SUV with a Veterans for The Orange Guy sticker on the bag. The older white woman driving hollered, “Learn to Drive!” as she passed us. This is not the sick burn she thought it was, since T. is indeed a student driver and a pretty fresh one as well. So I yelled out my already open window, “Student driver! Student driver!” To which she responded, predictably, “Fuck You!”

I had been in the middle of explaining to T. that sometimes people think that you should drive the speed limit or over all the time, and they will sometimes tell you that you’ll get a ticket if people are backed up behind you, even if you are driving over the speed limit, for impeding traffic. I said, this is not true. The only people who really need to worry about tickets for impeding traffic are tractors on the interstate (unlikely in Massachusetts!) and people driving below a posted minimum on an interstate. I added that when people claim that you’ll get a ticket for impeding traffic, they are telling on themselves. They are aggressive drivers who are constantly angry at people being slow in front of them when they want to drive faster. They are not safe. And then that woman happened to us. I observed, What a Perfect Example of the phenomenon in question!
