Sunday started late
Mar. 2nd, 2025 12:42 pmWhich is great for today less great for tomorrow, when we have to be back on the school schedule.
I did citric acid A.’s water bottle which was starting to get a little smelly when it sat for a while. Someone really needs to go to the grocery store today.
My face continues to improve.
A.’s cleaning / organizing efforts really took a turn last night and she got a little obsessive about trying to stack the toothpaste tablets in the container and they kept falling over and she got frustrated. Yeesh. She’s definitely going through some things. I’m really emphasizing that other people’s feelings are not her responsibility, in an effort to undo some habits learned in a bad school placement. I had hoped they’d go away in the new placement, but when we ruminate, we refresh the bad memories, until we understand and release, so, understanding and then hopefully release.
I opened up the DVD case in the living room, extracted a whole bunch of DVDs (honestly, not that many — probably 50 or fewer) and listed them in three lots on FB Marketplace. There are still some DVDs in there, but far fewer.
ETA:
Oculus Quest 2 and all the DVDs have been picked up. That was fast!
I had an ice bucket and a ladle, both silver, in a bin and ordered silver wipes, got them, put them in the bin. Today, I did the project of the bin! R. cleaned the ladle; I did the bucket. I listed the bucket, and put the ladle in the sideboard. Not too hard! Weiman’s makes a nice silver wipe product.
I also cut the bad parts of the half head of green cabbage and converted a large portion of it to cole slaw.
R. went grocery shopping so I think we’re well prepared for tomorrow.
ETAYA:
R. and I walked around the block. We were looking at fabric stores out near Northampton (online) and now all my FB ads are fabric related. This is me not being at all sad about that.
ETA Still More:
A cast iron dutch oven with no lid but a bail has been sitting in our basement for, as Priestess would say, Yoinks. We have no idea where it came from. Anyway. R. moved it to the counter, suggesting I list it. I demurred, thinking it wasn’t worth anything. And there it sat on my kitchen counter, until today, I said, fuck it, let’s find out what this thing is.
Turns out it’s a Wagwold, which is to say, it has both the Wagner Ware double arch AND it has the Griswold cross. So it dates from some time in the 1950s when Randall bought first one and then the other maker. If it weren’t so entertainingly marked, it’d be worth maybe $30 judging by eBay prices, but with the markings, it could be worth $60 or substantially more, if you could connect with a collector.
I posted it for free on FB marketplace and got a taker in minutes — he’s picking it up on Tuesday at 8 am after he gets off work. No idea if he’s a collector or just someone who wants a camping pot. I wish him all joy of it, and am glad we didn’t have to figure out where to donate it. I find it deeply hilarious that my silver ice bucket has generated absolutely no interest.
I have no idea what people out there in the world do with the stuff I list for free on FB Marketplace, but may the goddess bless them, one and all.
