Saturday: first full day in NYC
Oct. 12th, 2024 11:00 pmI went downstairs to get coffee and baked goodie and was sat to discover that all of the pastries are dairy-full. I got one for A. and left it in the room. I had a large coffee with oat milk which was fine but also too much coffee.
Priestess, R. and I walked over to Daily Provisions and Priestess and I had avocado toast. Yummy, altho seated outdoors in a bit of a wind tunnel.
Then we walked to the subway, and took it up to Harlem where we visited the exhibits at the Schomburg Center and left Priestess to do research on the numbers guy who funded a revolution with his profits. Super cool. The terrazzo floor memorial is amazing. I have photos of an artist’s name and some fabric; really cool stuff; that artist’s photos were exceptional as well.
R. and I walked back from a few stops north, looking at everything we walked past. I stopped at By the Way Bakery and bought some snacks. We ate a cookie. It was yummy. Later, we had mocktails at the Arthouse Bar and had the turtle bar, also very yummy, and there are two more goodies left. Gluten free, but apparently not a problem for me, and obviously dairy free.
We had dinner at Amsterdam Ale House at 4 pm and it was crowded and loud. I had a porter, which was awesome, and a shot of Michter’s Rye, which wasn’t just one shot. I got onion rings, chicken tenders and fries and split them with A. She ate the piece of lettuce. I had some of Priestess’ chicken kebab and rice. She had some of the onion rings. She had a mule. Too loud, but fun anyway.
