walkitout: (Default)
I picked A. up after stopping in at Mack Designer Hardware to pick up the 3 leversets I ordered. R. installed them, so we now have fancy new hardware on the door to the garage, the front door, and A.’s bedroom door. I love all of them, and A. is not complaining so we’ll see how this goes.

A. and I had dinner at NYAJ to get away from piano practice, and R. was sad we didn’t invite him. Ooops! That’s the first time he has _ever_ said that. Usually he declines so I just didn’t say anything this time. Go figure.

The architect has recovered from his crisis, and delegated (let the heavens rejoice!) some stuff to other people at Oxbow. C. will be doing some renderings. I was a little trepidatious about this, because J. (at the builder) and N. (the architect) were describing this as “helping me visualize things I am putting on my slides” (me = walkitout). I was like, uh, hmmmm. But the first room assigned is the walk-through closet, which I have done absolutely NOTHING to aid in designing / visualizing, so I think this is a pronoun problem. Or something. But people keep mentioning millwork, and so I’m now super nervous. _Yes_ the walkthrough closet has a ton of millwork involved in it, but it’s a straight line. C. can draft absolutely anything at all, and then I can come back with more like this, less like that — there aren’t any appliances or weird corners or anything like that. I’m not particularly worried about that. However, I am a bit worried about the kitchens, bar and pantry, because some of those do have corners, and they currently all have appliances (but I’m getting that freezer out of the pantry; it does not belong there), and I do not fucking trust anyone to do it the way I want it done. And I’m absolutely sick of people spending a bunch of time (= my money) designing something I don’t want and then not wanting to redo it the way I do want it. Which takes even more time. Which no.

Anyway.

I’ll be figuring out what goes where in the kitchens, bar and pantry this weekend, apparently. I should probably also measure linear feet of shoe storage, rod, and cubic of drawers in my current living space as well.
