walkitout: (Default)
I got a walk with M., and an abbreviated walk with A.

Today in lighting (so, yeah, you can bow out now if you are sick of it. I’m not doing this because I love it — altho I do kinda love shopping for lighting, I’m mostly past that point — I’m doing this because if I don’t, I’m going to have to fix it later, and I’d rather not) . . .

I decided to reduce the fan count in the living room to 1, either the 60 or the 84 haiku baf — probably the 60.

I’m going to ask to have the part of the trimbers that is over the seating area to be separately switched. Along with a folding screen, that should give the seating area enough control over its sensory impact.

I looked at (almost) every single house on the 1 mile loop to see what lighting they had around their front entry. Based on that experience, a single flushmount with a couple bulbs in it seems just fine, and then there are also sconces off to the sides. I found a variety of solar options for tread lighting, and a wired in option. The wired option can be used indoors or outdoors (they recommend caulking if you put it outdoors), so I’ve got that for any OMG I can’t see the ice fears. I picked out sconces for the main stair, so that fixes our code minimum switching problem. The architect had this screwy idea that there would be a 4 way switch (two switches at the main entry, 1 in the basement, 1 at the top of the stair) for the suspended lighting down the middle of the stair. No. Come on. We can do tread lighting and/or sconces, and then it can be switched pairwise (top and entry, entry and basement), and then we switch the central light however we want because it is not relevant to the code minimum switch rules.

I found a bathroom light to replace the trimbers. The architect decided the idea he had for tape lighting the stairs wasn’t going to work well, so we needed lighting in the entry, so I picked out flushmounts for that.

I think I’m just about ready to write it all up and send it off, altho there is no rush because the recipients don’t work over the weekend so as long as they get it by start of day Monday, we should be good to go. I _still_ need to go over the switch schedule.
