R. and I spent more time on the locks / door puzzle. We now understand why the architect wants mortise, but also that it is difficult AND I now have learned about multi-point locks, and that that might be a better route to that kind of really secure close but with smart lock features. But because this whole thing is resistant to an easy solution, that meets aesthetic requirements and functional requirements, I started looking for a vendor. When I found a possible one in Springfield, I called the architect and we chatted briefly, then I sent him a link to the vendor’s webpage. We’ll see how that goes.
I walked with M.
I went to Trader Joe’s. I drove A. to Fusion in the morning; R. picked her up in the afternoon. I am really, really, really tired.
The farm box arrived and I cooked the turnip greens and the mushrooms, ate my leftover pizza from yesterday and had a nice big salad and a couple slices of toast from the loaf in the box. That was yum.
I keep trying to get some kind of decision nailed down on the May 24 service outing for Fusion, but every time I try to get rid of it (she has classes, we’ll reschedule, okay, are you okay with going A., I don’t know) I fail. I’m going to have R. take her down to Horn Pond to scout the location and see if she finds it tolerable; she’s really worried about mosquitos and mud. I’ll monitor the weather. I’ve offered to transport her (which Fusion would prefer) so that she can bail out if she is miserable. We’ve already established the presence of picnic tables so she won’t get her lunch dirty.
Did I mention that I’m very tired.
Conveniently, the last of the precon bills and req #5 are both ready to be paid, so I put the two checks in the same envelope and had R. bring it to the post office (since this happened after the mail had already arrived).
I just can’t get over how busy yesterday was. I got A. up and to school after making sure I knew what needed to be packed up and brought for the prom when we picked her up. I made blondies and granola. I walked with M. I had R. go buy 18 donuts from Dunkin and then we went with the donuts to the last IEP meeting for T. We both went down to retrieve A., where we learned about the meltdowns. We got her to Seasons 52 (I’d made a reservation the day before, when we were figuring out how this was all going to work) and R. went to Target to go get some ibuprofen because she had a headache and I didn’t have anything for it. We had a lovely dinner — described yesterday — and she was recovered and excited to go to the prom, so that happened. And then we got home really, really late.
Yesterday’s meltdown involved a substitute teacher and a virtual lesson, and the poor teacher felt kinda bad about it so I reassured her that we were grateful and A. felt better and was able to go to the prom. She replied this morning that she was so happy to hear that; the teachers at Fusion are really amazingly idealistic and truly still have the energy to care about the kids. It’s quite amazing.
