Tuesday: Magic Kingdom
Feb. 20th, 2024 11:59 pmSo, the plan this trip has been to NOT get into the parks first thing. That never works for the west coaster crowd anyway, but especially this group. I got up at 7 and bought Genie and set up a LL and so forth, and then slept a bit more, and added another LL at 11, etc. In the meantime, I also attended a 9 am MEPFP meeting. The second well is (mostly) dry, so it is on to well 3. Sigh.
MK is always kinda challenging because it is such a big park, but I did my best. We monorailed over and headed to Space Mountain, our first LL. After that was Haunted Mansion. The we had lunch at the Skipper Canteen. Then A. really wanted churros, so I took her over to the churro cart while J and the kids did Pirates. Then we made it with a minute to spare into Hall of Presidents, then back to Tomorrowland to drop A. at a bench by the quiet restrooms while we did our paid for Tron. Fun! Faster to pay than to Virtual Queue. I did not mean to do it that way, but I was trying to be clever and get a boarding group but not a really early boarding group. Oh well! Money fixes mistakes. Yay! We did Buzz Lightyear.
A. and I did not really want dinner because we were still pretty full from lunch and snacks. She had soft serve and I had a churro, and they accidentally doubled up on the soft serve order. J. had some of it but A. had one and a half.
J thought he was having allergies, but I was kinda wondering. It was tough talking to him in the evening. They wanted another meal, and I was trying to help them figure that out, but J kept having odd objections, like, I thought we were going to Kona tomorrow (I had another reservation for the night after that but I did not mention that), and not wanting to go to the counter service at GF, which would have been the obvious choice. There had not been great options for reservations in the morning; by this point, there was absolutely nothing available. R. and I decided to have drinks at Outer Rim, but they do not have food at all and R. had already eaten at Steakhouse 71. The snacks at Villains Lounge were not satisfying for J, and Contempo mostly has bowls and J did not want another burger. I sent them off to Kona with Captain Cooks as a backup plan and apparently Kona worked out fine.
I was pretty fried, because it had been a long day for me, and I felt it was a little ridiculous that they were completely falling apart when I had been up so much longer than they had, and put this whole plan together.
