Everything got delivered today — the last of the photos (the accordion foldout brag thingie that we never use and T.’s graduation photo both to frame and the fold out), the table for the laundry.

It’s super icy out, and I felt very bad for the FedEx guy who had to bring the table to the stoop. He pointed out the worst spots and I had R. put salt on them (I’d already asked him to salt the stoop). A bit later, I went out and scraped at it and got some of it cleared out. M. came over for a visit but we did not walk because it is very treachorous.

I made blondies. We thought we’d run out of bread, but it was just still sitting in the car. But A.’s sandwich wasn’t possible to make without bread so she got crackers and the last blondie and some peanuts. M. got thin mints instead of a blondie, because they were still in the oven at that point.

A. got her haircut. We need to remember to bring shampoo or ask for the least smelly option. That was really bad. Again. But the cut is gorgeous.

A. went to movie night at her connections program. It was the Princess Bride. She is quite frosty that even tho it was called The Princess Bride, the titular character had virtually no screen time and didn’t get stabby with anyone. It truly was better than other options such as Airplane, but yeah, I didn’t expect her to like it, either.

I had a delightful phone call with K.

I now have quite the list of people with Alaskan flights! Including one person who has already had a cancel (upcoming Sunday flight was canceled). K.’s offspring has a flight at the end of the month, as does P. Therapist has a flight on the 24th. No one has made backup plans. E. has a flight in February, around the time as the one for J. and the kids that I already booked a backup fully refundable for. E. doesn’t mind not going at all; it is only going and getting stuck there that would be a problem.

I’m genuinely shocked that no one has backup plans. People sincerely think that equipment can and will be swapped around, even tho so far it has been rolling cancelation of 20% of the schedule. The reality, of course, is that there is no alternate equipment for many of these flights, and it would be tremendously disruptive to try to swap in other cases, and wouldn’t necessarily reduce cancelations anyway. People _genuinely_ still haven’t really grasped the scale of this thing. It’s amazing.

On the one hand, it kind of does not matter? I mean they will get their money back and they won’t go on the trip. Hopefully, they’ll be able to get refunded on the things they prepaid for? R. had already heard from at least one customer that they wanted a refund for her company’s stuff because their flight had been canceled so they couldn’t be there. I know people are definitely exploring whether trip insurance covers this.

Tomorrow is the 11 month window, so I had to actually nail some stuff down. S. was trying to figure out how she could do the trip with us AND also be with her mother a thousand miles away on Xmas Day and I’m like, nope, that’d be you doing a different trip with us in February or maybe this summer. LOL. Points will be less for that, so that’s all to the good, honestly.
