Government has a long history of passing laws for new programs, and then struggling to implement. In my lifetime, that has often involved computers. I heard an Odd Lots interview with Jennifer Pahlka, and this sample is a lot like that interview. The specifics largely involving the state of California, especially the unemployment claims during the pandemic.

This is a topic that I have a lot of interest in, and I may well buy and read the rest of the book. But probably not today, because I have other recent acquisitions that I have not read. Like, a Jennifer Crusie and Bob Mayer book that is first in a series of 3.

Also, I got, via Kindle Unlimited, John Sunderland’s memoir about creating the Jorvik attraction.

We got up and ate breakfast and on the way to York. I should have booked Jorvik tix but did not. Wait was not too bad and ride edutainment was excellent. The John Sunderland memoir about designing that attraction is available on kindle unlimited, so I started reading it in line. We had lunch at shambles kitchen and dessert and sourdough bread from bluebird bakery. We stopped at the outdoor market. T. bought a wallet. A. bought a purse, but I discovered the 20 pound notes from the previous trip were not accepted. I stopped in a Lloyds, but they could not help a non-customer. They suggested the post office. They would not exchange for pound notes but they would exchange for euros or dollars, so I switched for euros. I got 60 euros and an uncertain amount of english coins.

We stopped in Primark and Utopia. We bought some things in Flying Tiger, a Danish shop. Very cute! We returned to the hotel and rested. We went to Beverley Hills Diner and had drinks and 2 or 3 course weekday meals and ate way too much and it was all very delicious. I brought home leftover pizza from my main, and part of A.’s burger.

We went to the hotel and brought R. and took some group photos. We left A. and went to the Sun Inn and listened to music and drank some more and chatted. Very pleasant. Husband started to fade so we called it a night. A. had a pleasant time alone. No plan for tomorrow, but maybe dinner on Thursday. I set up a load of laundry to run in the morning. I am going to do Duolingo and then read more of the Crusie/Mayer novel.
