Monday: BBQ at cousin’s house in Lake Stevens

The kids and I drove up to Lake Stevens to hang out with my cousin B, and his wife R. She had a meeting, so she arrived later. They’ve done a lot of great stuff with their back yard (patios, super nice furniture, big tent area for eating to avoid bugs, mini fridge, microwave. They have two neighbors, and greenbelt, and there are substantial arbor vitae plantings that completely block visual to the neighbors and a lot of sound. It’s a quiet neighborhood anyway. You can definitely imagine staying home and just never leaving in that environment. We stopped at a whole foods along the way and brought some dessert, snacks, baby carrots with us.

R. rode his bike up, and we brought him and the bike back in the SUV.

T. got to drive one of the cousin’s vehicles and they planned a later outing so he could learn to drive a stick. We also stopped and saw R.’s office space in a building separate from where her non-profit operates. Very nice! She says she’s now getting the children of some of her original kids coming to her programs. Really great to see this grow.
